ELLIE HUNTER, FOUNDER AND CEO

Ellie Hunter's background in finance and entrepreneurship is grounded in her persistent work ethic and experience at IBM, Goldman Sachs, and Schonfeld Securities. Amidst the aftermath of 9/11, she settled in the Hamptons and discovered an opportunity in the specialty food industry that inspired her to establish a vegan and gluten free food manufacturing company. With their all-natural foods that were quick to serve, Ellie’s company made their way onto the shelves of 800 supermarkets, earning them the coveted Ahold's Woman Owned Business Award.

Leveraging upon her experience during long-term IV antibiotic treatment due to a rare tick-borne disease, Ellie was led to recognize the need for a more comfortable and professional solution for IV catheter patients. She found herself filling another void in the public space, but this time it was centered around passionately building a movement to save lives in a much more literal sense.

Ellie’s heart for helping others has continued to grow, drawing on her diverse experiences and a unique blend of scientific and business acumen, Ellie invented and patented the PortPouch - a medical innovation that brings comfort and dignity to patients during treatment. With the enthusiastic support and partnership of her colleague Kerrie Burke, Ellie then went on to establish CathCare, the parent company of PortPouch, to make her vision a reality. She now proudly stands in her role as Founder and CEO of CathCare and is authentically dedicated to spearheading product development. Ellie remains diligently focused on strategically improving patient care protocols in hospitals and at-home therapies, particularly serving the pediatric and geriatric demographics, who are most at risk and often cannot advocate for themselves during their most challenging moments in life.

KERRIE BURKE, COO

Kerrie Burke has been a fierce and competitive businesswoman throughout her life. After working in several corporate roles, Kerrie flexed her entrepreneurial talent by launching a retail fuel oil company in the Hamptons, growing it to a base of over 3,500 commercial and residential customers and eventually selling it to a major energy group. In pursuit of expanding her business knowledge, she entered the Hamptons real estate market in 2014 where today, she is an admired top producer and a valued member of the Lori Schiaffino Team at Compass.

Kerrie met Ellie on the Lori Schiaffino Team in 2019, and they quickly bonded over their mutual aspirations, particularly when she witnessed the hardship of Ellie’s journey while going through IV treatment. Kerrie played an integral role in establishing CathCare, and her deep commitment to the company is driven by her awareness of the current major challenges faced in medical settings.

Today, Kerrie oversees CathCare as the Chief Operating Officer and she understands the importance of delivering a quality, trusted and reliable product. It is her personal mission to make the PortPouch readily available to all, delivering it throughout the United States, thus blending her love of providing service to others, investing in patient livelihoods and determined to make a positive difference in the world.
